I stumbled out of bed at 5am today to stand in line with Talida for the live taping of
The Martha Stewart Show. Totally worth it - we scored front row seats, and spent the morning up close and personal with Martha as she concocted blueberry corn ice cream sundaes, planted fall perennials, tweeted, and changed lives.

Watching this fascinating woman from such a close proximity and observing her distinct on- and off-air personalities helped me perceive the maniac maven
as a multi-dimensional human being. It also brought to mind one of my all-time favorite, jaw-dropping, makeup magic moments.

This is the late makeup maestro Kevyn Aucoin's transformation of Martha Stewart into sexy 40's starlet, Veronica Lake. It is simply stunning! I love how Kevyn saw past Martha's prim & proper "on-air" facade and used his incredible talent to bring an inner "off-air" sultry persona to the surface.

Sometimes a little makeup can reveal something that was there all along.

Chris was working really hard (as usual), and I hardly saw him during the week. Most of my days were spent poolside at the hotel, reading and writing. And eating. But we took advantage of the weekends- shopping, exploring, eating, and enjoying massages at a great spa. We even had the opportunity to visit a church and hit up a house party.

Living in such a different country, for even a brief amount of time, has made a tremendous impact on our relationship. I'm so glad we share a passion for traveling. Handling new coins, trying new flavors, satisfying curiosities. It's an amazing act of intimacy to fly away and find yourselves in a place where the only familiar things you have are the sky and each other.

The past weeks have left me breathless, I've had nothing to complain about. But I was starting to feel homesick towards the end. As much as I hated leaving Chris behind in India, I was really excited to bring all the inspiration and goodies we'd discovered back to New York.

I can't wait until Chris comes home, when all the confetti has settled, and we can finally get into the new groove of married life. There's no place like home :)

Our wedding day was absolute magic, an overflowing of love and bliss. Chris and I were awestruck by how amazing it felt to have our loved ones by our side, in the middle of paradise, to witness our union. The emotions were indescribable. It was the most beautiful, most extraordinary, happiest day of my life.

Life has been a whirlwind ever since, and I can't believe an entire month has flown by. The next few weeks will be equally eventful as we travel to India for Chris' work. Although it isn't our honeymoon, I believe this trip will be a remarkable experience that will stretch us as individuals and bring us closer together as husband and wife.

Still waiting on photos from our photographer, so I'll dish about wedding details when those come in. But here are some sweet snaps that make me smile.

Just kidding. But you totally believed me! :) As we're rapidly approaching the big day, Chris and I have started rockin' our new wedding scents. Fragrance is such an intimate and personal element, and it has an incredible ability to embody the most wonderful memories. I believe these timeless scents are the perfect final touch and will capture the beauty, excitement, and wonder of this pivotal and joyous occasion.

With delicious notes of sandalwood, vintage leather, and tobacco, Vera Wang For Men smells mysterious and exquisite, in a very masculine way. The chic bottle looks great in our bathroom, and sometimes I sneak a spritz in my hair.

Vera Wang Truly Pink is beautiful and graceful. And it matches my gown! It smells like a romantic bouquet of fresh pink roses, sprinkled with sensual notes of lychee blossoms, peonies, and white freesia. A sophisticated mix -  feminine, subtle, and classy.

Hooray!! Finally! It's the most spectacular blush pink silk taffeta confection ev-ar! I can't post pictures because Chris might spy it. Shhh! :)

The gown is a tiny sample size and surprisingly, a near perfect fit. However, I do wish that I had more womanly curves to fill out the hip area. I've started looking online for some padded undergarments to give me an extra voluptuous boost on the sides. Ironic how so many brides sweat and starve to fit into their dresses, and here I am, trying to buy some lovely lady humps online. Looking stunning is not about being the mini-est you can be. It's about being fat in all the right places.

A quote from Kate Hudson in Bride Wars: "You don't alter a Vera to fit you, you alter yourself to fit the Vera."

Amen, sister.

Chris was a big hit, and I must've been really good last year, because I got showered with tons of presents. But we did miss the New York countdown. So technically, I still have yet to receive my first-ever New Year's Kiss :(

Our new dining table arrives this Saturday! This will be our first official wedding gift (Thank you, Frederick!!), and I can't wait. Chris and I have started working on the apartment, and the first room we tackled was the living/dining room. We've been very uncivilized, eating at our coffee table for the past year, so I'm really excited and still trying to decide what to cook to celebrate our first real meal at a real table!

Traveling is one of my favorite pastimes and I am more than thrilled to be escaping from chilly New York for a week and a half.

Since I will be out of the country for New Year's, here are some (not all) of my resolutions:

1) Get in hot shape. Must have that beach bod in time for our wedding in April - 4 months to go!!
2) Learn how to cook. Hopefully, my sister-in-law can enlighten me. She's amazing!
3) Take and share more photos.
4) Blog more! 2009 is going to be amazing, and I can't wait to share it with you.

Any resoultions you care to share? I'll try to hold you to them! :) Have a wonderful Christmas, and I will see you next year.

PS - I only packed 12 lip glosses for this trip.
